This weekend marks a significant milestone as the NRL and the Mark Hughes Foundation come together for the 10th Anniversary Beanie for Brain Cancer Round.
What began as a simple beanie has become one of Australia’s most recognised fundraising campaigns, bringing the rugby league community together in support of brain cancer research. Over the past nine years, more than 1.3 million beanies have been sold, helping raise almost $30 million for the fight against brain cancer.
The impact of that support has been extraordinary. It has helped establish one of Australia’s leading brain cancer research centres at the University of Newcastle and, just this month, the Mark Hughes Foundation announced a landmark $18.9 million philanthropic commitment to drive the next phase of research and treatment breakthroughs.
At Rundle Tailoring, this cause is particularly close to our hearts. Mark has been a longstanding friend and supporter of our team, and it has been a genuine privilege to dress him for many of the significant moments that have shaped his remarkable legacy. Over the years, we’ve witnessed firsthand the passion, determination and generosity that have made such a profound difference to countless Australian families affected by brain cancer.
Rundle Tailoring has proudly supported the Mark Hughes Foundation for many years through attending and contributing to the Mark Hughes Foundation Ball, donations, and purchasing beanies each season. Supporting the Foundation is something our team feels deeply connected to, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping advance the vital work being done in brain cancer research.
As the rugby league community once again pulls on their beanies this weekend, we’re proud to stand alongside Mark, Kirralee and the Foundation team in celebrating everything that has been achieved over the past decade, while recognising there is still important work ahead.
You can support the cause by purchasing a beanie online through the Mark Hughes Foundation, at any NRL game during Beanie for Brain Cancer Round, or in-store at participating retailers including Lowes and IGA ahead of the weekend. Every beanie sold helps fund vital research, improve treatment outcomes and bring hope to those affected by brain cancer.
If you’re heading to the football this weekend, don’t forget to wear your beanie, show your support and be part of a movement that continues to change lives.
Good luck to the Knights boys this weekend as they defend the kingdom and take the field for a cause that means so much to our community.
Together, we can help find a cure for brain cancer.
