The story begins
Narikka and Jack’s love story began 11 years ago.
After meeting through a connected social circle in Singleton, they arranged a dinner and movie date to see ‘A Few Best Men’ starring Olivia Newton-John. Jack even met the parents. It obviously went well, as that night led to over a decade of romance, laughter and friendship.
Jack popped the question on Christmas Day with a Peridot proxy ring (so Narikka could pick out one she liked later). After disguising a written proposal in a big box filled with wrapping paper and confetti, he dropped the knee, and she said yes!
The location & venue
Narikka always knew that when she got married, she wanted a venue where they could stay and relax on the morning of the big day. She wanted the vendors to come to her, so she could relax and have a glass of bubbles or two.
Wallalong House in Morpeth was one of only two locations the couple viewed. They knew from the moment they saw it that it had to be there. It’s easy to see why.
Surrounded by 200-year-old fig trees and elevated country views, this stunning 1830s historic home exudes country charm and elegance.
The big day
After postponing their wedding for almost a year due to the pandemic, their big day finally fell on Father’s Day 2022 – a special day for Narikka’s dad to walk his daughter down the aisle.
The ceremony took place al fresco under an overcast sky, officiated by Jack’s sister Jade. Rather than dampening the mood, the weather only enhanced the wild romantic vibe.
One beautiful bride, a suave bearded groom, two men in fairy outfits and 70 smiling guests later, and their love was sealed with a ring and a kiss.
Narikka wore Adrienne by Pronovias and emerald green shoes by Alias Mae – matching the maid of honour’s dress. Jack wore a dapper white tux with black satin lapel trim tailored by Rundle, paired with black pants, vest, bow and shoes.
The wedding breakfast and reception were in a white marquee pitched within the grounds. The simple, elegant and timeless feel they had in mind was executed perfectly with rustic wood tables, candles and earthy cream and green tones.
While they both loved ‘Shut Up and Dance’ for their first dance, they ended up choosing ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri to cater to Jack’s two left feet. The night ended with the couple departing the venue under an arch of sparklers
The special memories
The highlights of their big day were pretty much in unison.
Both loved having all of their loved ones come together to celebrate and seeing their vision come to life. Plus, Narikka loved the feedback on her dress and shoes!
Jack says he’ll never forget their first dance, despite admitting to royally *messing* it up! He just loved that they kept going with nothing but laughs and smiles.
Of course, marrying their best friend was the cherry on top of the cake (and doughnuts!).
The couple’s advice
If you’re planning your big day, Narikka and Jack’s advice is to sit down and talk about your expectations, including size, budget and time of year.
“Also, prioritise what you want to go big on. We wanted to make sure everyone had enough to eat and drink – and everyone said they did.”
Photography is also very important. After all, you have these photos for life. “Put your trust in them and allow them to do their thing – that’s when you see the best results.”
Last but not least, they said not to sweat the small stuff – things will go wrong. Just remember to have fun!
The Rundle experience
When it came time to buy a suit for the wedding, Jack knew exactly what he wanted, and there was only one place he would go to get it.
“The Rundles team did an exceptional job in helping to turn my vision into reality. The attention to detail ensuring the fit was just right along with being able to keep within our budget made for nothing but a stress-free and enjoyable experience.”
“We would 100 per cent recommend Rundle to anyone looking to get their wedding suits.”
