Inspired by the theatrical world of Italian fashion and the opulent romance of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci era, this styled shoot captures the essence of Italian maximalist wedding inspiration — unapologetically bold, eclectic and luxurious.
Working with a team of talented wedding vendors from Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, we explored how maximalist styling translates into fashion, florals and tablescapes. We transformed the striking architecture and landscape of The Sienna Hunter Valley into a dreamscape of maximalist beauty, for the couple who dares to be different. The result is a feast for the senses, filled with lush textures, dramatic tones and statement-making style.
Italian Maximalist Wedding Inspiration: Bold, Romantic & Luxurious
Ivory double-breasted suits are everywhere right now, but we’ve seen the trend at its peak over this European summer wedding season. When perfectly fitted, a double-breasted suit can look elegant and oh-so-cool. For this shoot, we designed an ivory, double-breasted Made-to-Measure suit and styled it with a crisp ivory shirt and matching Carlo Visconti self-pattern tie, finishing the look with taupe suede Seville loafers from Florsheim (available in-store). While you might opt for a matching pocket square or add a floral buttonhole, we opted for a super clean look that held its own against the bold wedding aesthetic. When the party gets going, simply remove the tie for a more relaxed look.
In opting for an ivory double-breasted suit, we drew inspiration from European destination weddings. Destination weddings have seen a boom in popularity over the last few years, with couples choosing to tie the knot in dreamy locations like northern Italy, the South of France and the Greek islands. Whether you’re heading off on a grand wedding adventure, or simply recreating the mood closer to home, the double-breasted look nods to the old-school glamour of Europe and looks chic when expertly fitted.

Alyssa wore a soft, glowy makeup look, with her long bob styled in a ’90s blow out, to offset the drama of the sweeping mantilla lace veil. For the ceremony, Aston Bridal chose another trending style: the ’90s look wedding dress, reminiscent of a vintage Vera Wang design.
Maximalist Wedding Photography: Capturing the Drama
The Sienna Hunter Valley’s beautiful central piazza, with elegant black and white checkerboard tiles, serves grand Italian vibes.
Giant silk flowers from Vivid Memories by D adorned the space to dial up the surrealist vibes.

Opulent Tablescapes Inspired by Italian Luxury
“This shoot was designed as a bold and imaginative expression of luxury, individuality, and high-fashion wedding styling,” says stylist and concept designer Rhiannon Sarkis (Mayd by Rhi). “Inspired by the romantic, whimsical world of Gucci Garden, our vision combined vibrant colour, layered textures, and unexpected details to create an editorial moment that feels both enchanting and avant-garde.”
Floral Design Ideas for an Italian Maximalist Wedding
The 2025 Pinterest Wedding Trends Report noted surrealist florals as a key trend to watch, with bold and interesting floral arrangements taking centre stage. To recreate the aesthetic, florist Bridgette Ticehurst from Botanicals by B opted for sculptural blooms like statice, orchids, tulips and calla lilies. On the table and dessert counter, unexpected pairings like unripe fruits and wild foliage in antique-style vessels, brought an eccentric and playful twist to the old-world European feel of the space.
