“A custom made Australian manufactured suit is more affordable than you think and it’s an experience that should be on every gentleman’s agenda. It was a pleasure to make Ben Lazzaro Chief Executive of The Australian Made Campaign a Rundle Tailoring bespoke suit recently.” Andrew Rundle Managing Director and owner Rundle Tailoring
Over our 113 year history of tailoring excellence in Newcastle, we have made our quality Australian Made to measure garments for a wide variety of clients ranging from local business people, wedding customers such as Ben Gillies from Silverchair, Australian sporting teams such as the Australian Rugby Union, The Newcastle Knights, Marching bands such as the Marching Koalas, state premiers- Barry O’ Farrell, Qantas Flight attendants uniforms and other large corporates such as Country Road before they took their manufacturing offshore to a bespoke indigenous print morning tails for Elton John to perform in one of his concerts while on tour in Australia during the 1990’s but none makes us prouder than the made to measure suit we made recently for Ben Lazzaro the Chief Executive of The Australian Made Campaign.
The famous Australian Made, Australian Grown (AMAG) logo is the true mark of Aussie authenticity. It’s Australia’s most trusted, recognised and widely used country of origin symbol, and is underpinned by a third-party accreditation system, which ensures products that carry the logo are certified as ‘genuinely Australian’.
Rundle Tailoring is a proud holder of the Australian Made licence this means you can have complete confidence in what you are buying, knowing that it comes with the Australian Made guarantee of workmanship and quality. All garments are produced in Newcastle by Rundle Tailoring’s team of skilled cutters and sewers, who take great pride in their meticulous workmanship and desire to always exceed customer expectations.
“We were delighted when Mr Lazzaro contacted us about making him a genuine Australian made to measure suit just prior to COVID- 19 lockdown happening in Victoria in 2020,” said Mr Rundle.
More now than ever it is important to support Australian Manufacturers and The Australian Made Campaign (AMCL) is calling on Australia’s business community and all levels of government to adopt ‘buy Australian first’ procurement policies, to help fast-track the country’s resurgence as it plans its recovery from the impact of COVID-19.
Australia’s overreliance on imported products has been highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s time to address this imbalance,” said Mr Lazzaro. “Let’s take a long-term view and increase our level of manufacturing self-sufficiency. While there will always be a requirement for imports, it’s important we get the balance right between local and offshore manufacturing, to ensure Australia’s long-term prosperity.”
As Mr Lazzaro is in Melbourne the normal process of booking an appointment for the initial consultation to have measurements taken, discuss styles and fabric selection from the world’s finest fabrics such as Holland and Sherry, Dormeuil and other internationally sourced fabrics was done via email and phone calls.
Mr Lazzaro selected Dormeuil’s Amadeus fabric for his suit which is synonymous with performance and comfort with excellent drape. It has become one of the House’s flagship creations.
Made of pure extra-fine Merino wool, Amadeus gives outstanding performance with a great handle, due to the secret finishing processes Dormeuil brings to the manufacture in its traditional mills in England.
Amadeus designs are firmly on-trend, with a range of elegant checks that encapsulate the fashionable chic of the most sophisticated clients in a very traditional English style.
For those that do not live locally, we have a process we follow to ensure the made to measure suit is fitted correctly for your measurements. Once Mr Lazzaro had provided us with his measurements, we posted him a fitting suit to double-check measurements supplied by him. After reviewing the photos of Mr Lazzaro wearing the fitting suit and his feedback, we used final measurements to cut his suit.
We offer multiple fittings for our bespoke suits if necessary, as either a toile or a half-made basted try on in your fabric to test your pattern.
As an additional feature of our made to measure service we offer custom embroidery to personalise your suit. For Mr Lazzaro in addition to embroidering his name on the lining of the suit we also embroidered the Australian Made Campaign logo. For wedding couples, we often embroider the couples name and wedding date as a memento of their union.
Mr Lazzaro said of his experience with dealing with Rundle Tailoring “Thank you to the team at Rundle Tailoring for producing my fantastic authentic Australian Made suit. It’s important that we support our Aussie manufacturers, especially when they are creating quality products like these. Although I am based in Victoria, the NSW-based Rundle Tailoring team was able to provide advice and guidance throughout the entire process—from style and material selection, through to fitting and final manufacture. Thanks again!”
The Australian Made Campaign (AMCL) is calling on consumers to support local growers and manufacturers this Australia Day by looking for the iconic green and gold kangaroo when shopping for genuine Aussie products.
In the lead up to Australia Day, Mr Lazzaro said “We really need to rally behind our local business. Every dollar spent on locally made and grown products will have a direct impact on the livelihoods of Aussie farmers and manufacturers, as well as the wider community.
We are so lucky to have access to some of the best products in the world made right here in our backyard. Shoppers should look for the Australian Made logo to be sure they’re buying genuinely Australian Products.
